Featuring a symmetrical Ebert design, all MonoSpec 50 models are half-meter monochromators, and represent the finest in high performance instruments. They are cast in a single solid aluminum housing to ensure the highest possible stability, and are designed to provide maximum resolution (0.01 nm resolution with a 2400 g/mm grating), without sacrificing throughput.

Gratings for the MonoSpec 50 are easily interchangeable and a variety are available to provide a spectral range from 175 nm - 40.0 µm. Access to the grating is provided by a large, removable, light-tight cover. Prealigned gratings are mounted in a kinematic support, allowing the easy inter- change of gratings without worry of optical realignment. A wide selection of Jarrell-Ash ruled or holographic gratings to suit a variety of requirements for spectral coverage, stray light, and efficiency is available. Echelle gratings are also available for specialized work requiring extremely high resolution.

For flexibility, the MonoSpec 50 features a side exit port option using a swing out mirror assembly (Part Number 82-017 for PMTs or 12746300 for array detectors), which is externally controlled and deflects the dispersed light to the side port. This port readily accepts camera detectors when equipped with the proper flange and photomultiplier tube housings.

Three MonoSpec 50 models are now available to suit different scanning requirements. Those who own or have access to computers will find the Model 82-050 with stepping motor with RS-232C interface fits easily into their present set-up. The Model 82-020 features a four speed, reversible electrical drive with a wavelength marker on external recorders. For the truly budget conscious there is the four speed manual drive Model 82-010. All three models provide the same superior performance expected from a Jarrell-Ash instrument.
